Here are 10 tips and reminders that you need to take to heart:
Managers don't mean shit and often don't do what you think they will. Having a manager doesn't mean you're going to all of a sudden rocket to stardom. Managers manage. They don't develop. They don't hold hands. They don't work for you.
You are the brand. You are the product. Not your music - your music is the marketing. Get people to know YOU. Your personality, your cause, what makes you different. That's what gets people to CONNECT.
Don’t post just to post. Congratulations, you finally understand social media is important. Yes, there’s something to be said for consistency, but are you posting content that is aligned with your brand? Will your audience resonate? Are you adding value? Or are you just taking some random video you put no thought into and putting it online? No wonder you're stuck in 200 view jail...
You need to hustle to progress. You need to be a student of the game. You need to always be learning. And just because something worked in the past doesn’t mean it’s going to work now. Alternatively, if it's not working, stop doing it and try something new until it does. You need to play the game or fall behind
If you don’t have money to spend, don’t spend it. Be smart about where you spend money. Don’t just throw dollars at ads without any strategy or desired outcome. Same goes for music videos, gig opportunities, or anything else. If your investment won't benefit you long term, don't do it.
Don’t think someone is going to rescue you. If you have the mindset that you have to do it all yourself, you’re way more likely to succeed
Don’t get discouraged and don’t give up. You're going to hear no a lot. More than yes. Believe in yourself and put in the work. The ones who fail are the ones who give up
Make art for you and no one else
No one is going to work harder than you. No one is going to care more than you. If you aren’t putting in the effort what makes you think other people will?
